Brittany Vicknair's Story

“When I received my first prosthetic, I lived in pain for years. I knew something was not right, but with every prosthetists I met, the outcome was always the same. I thought it was my fault – maybe I am doing something wrong. The pain continued.

I knew I could not last another year feeling defeated day in and day out. My Dad heard about POA of Florida and Stan and his team gave me HOPE! After I was fitted and walked for the first time – it was like night and day!

I knew I wanted to do for others what POA did for me!”

POA in the Press

June 2nd, 2016 | NEW ORLEANS

After a week in a coma, college freshman Brittany Grunberg woke up to find that bacterial meningitis had barely spared her life but that it had taken both of her legs below her knees. She wasn’t angry, but she was frustrated. “A lot of people die from meningitis,” she says. “It’s such a fast disease. Everyone said, ‘You’re so lucky!’ But I lost both of my legs. I thought, ‘How can I be lucky?’”
